Tiny gifts, moving meditations, acts of love…

Whether making or viewing, the arts can have an overwhelmingly positive effect on our well-being. How much time does it take for this to happen? Many of the studies recommend starting with forty-five minute sessions. But what if we don’t have that kind of time? Would 20 minutes work? How about ten? Five, even. Could we have a meaningful practice in the time of a single breath?

This is my own little experiment to see what might happen if I spend even a brief moment or so making art before becoming too deeply involved in all the other “stuff” of the day. Or maybe after some of the other stuff. Just a few minutes, or seconds, whenever I can grab them. A small, sustainable practice with no agenda other than enjoying the moment. I am calling them my Morning Glories. Let’s see what happens…
